Good afternoon all, hope everyone is coping with what’s going on in the world and staying safe and healthy. As we know this virus has cause havoc on us and our lifestyle, and also our mindset of dealing. Most of you know that this blog is about life within my eyes and learning to cope with huge mental setbacks. That during this time it’s not easy for people who suffer from the disease called Depression.

Symptoms of Depression are as follows

  • sadness
  • tiredness
  • trouble focusing or concentrating
  • unhappiness
  • anger
  • irritability
  • frustration
  • loss of interest in pleasurable or fun activities
  • sleep issues (too much or too little)
  • no energy
  • craving unhealthy foods
  • anxiety
  • isolation
  • restlessness
  • worrying
  • trouble thinking clearly or making decisions
  • poor performance at work or school 
  • dropping out of activities
  • guilt
  • suicidal thoughts or tendencies
  • pain, like headaches or muscle aches 
  • drug or alcohol abuse

Are you suffering from any of these symptoms ? If so please seek help, 800-950-6264 . Asking for help doesn’t make you weak or shameful its what’s needed to get you well. People can’t help you if you don’t speak up.

During this time, there will be more depressed and suicidal people. I say this because when you suffer from this disease its very hard to think positive, you always think the worst even when its not the worst. You feel as if there is nothing else to do or there is no positive outcome. Life isn’t important, you feel like a failure, you hurt people, you doubt yourself. Your brain can’t focus on the positive or the breakthrough, there is no out. The number one is always thinking that you are alone and don’t have support. You forgot or don’t think that it’s not just you, you stress out because you forget you have the support right in-front of you.

Suicide and dark thought rates will be sky high and remember your family and friends who suffer will not tell you what is going on. They will not volunteer their thoughts or their mental breakdown . YOU have to check in and make sure they are good. They will smile in your face and be dying inside. NOT EVERY SMILE IS A HAPPY SMILE!!!!!! Just because you see them having fun and laughing and “happy” does not mean they are, we are fighting a horrible battle .

With this being said , here are some ways to help those in need of support.

Be there

Try a small gesture

Avoid the tough-love approach

Don’t minimize their pain

Avoid offering advice

Avoid making comparisons

Learn as much as you can about depression

Be patient

Keep the negative news at a very minimum to none at all.

Remember its not always about you, you’re not important at this time, so you should not make it personal. just be the support system that they need. During this time family is very important, doing things together, help take the stress away, stop judging when you can’t relate. HELP AS MUCH AS YOU CAN!

We know it very serious out here with the virus but we also know that the media takes things to another level and we panic without being rational of reality. Let’s be mindful.
